Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012

Aw, I am so looking forward to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year. It is going to be aired in early December, hurray!

For me it's always a mix of inspired genius and cheesy cliché, but it's always a spectacle. I almost never enjoy the musical interludes because it's not usually my style...I'm sure neither Bieber or Rihanna will change that.

Despite the recent controversy, and subsequent apology for Karlie Kloss wearing a Native American headdress, it looks to be as colourful and fabulous as ever. I have been fishing around online for some sneak peak photo's, here are some of my favourites so far:

London Alternative Fashion Week: Curve Couture show

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still on a high from doing the catwalk show yesterday. We had dealt with a whole host of issues in the run up to the show: hairdressers unavailability, MUA getting a paid job the same day the day before, one of the London models didn't even turn up and no driver for the van until a few days before, but.....

We overcame every problem. Luckily our MUA who dropped out being the total pro arranged cover: so thank you to Cherie Bullock for stepping in last minute and assisting the fabulous Tabbie Adams who I adore working with. Also our top girl-Friday Katja Van Der Graaf drove from London to drive my bus of girls back to London so extra thanks to her for the solid support and Mimi Flynn ( who is also a fabulous dressmaker/ accessories maker) who provided unequalled assistance backstage. And also my amazing models:

l-r: Chloe Williams, Jennifer Clarke, Ruby True, Maz Spencer, Kat Lawlor, Kitty Peels, Lisa-Marie
More posts to follow after I tidy up the heap of corsets, stockings and knickers that are occupying my table so I can get on with some work....

Today: suspender belts

Today  for AFW I have been working on suspender belts. I made the block this morning, and after clients work I have come back to them in the evening. Suspenders are so very sexy, in my opinion, simply because of how the skin is hidden and revealed. Since my collection is all about the trappings of a new love affair I want to capture the frivolity and pleasure in dressing up to please a partner.

Here are the results so far:

I've chosen to stick to the colours from the previous samples to make my first pieces because I really like matching underwear sets... There is still some work to do to finish off the belt and then, of course, is the fun it of decoration. Pleased with it so far, and I feel inspired to use the decorative lacing on the next corset.

It's all coming together.....

Today: lingerie fixation

Today I had to tackle a totally new project: a lingerie body. This is the foundation for a very slinky wedding dress, and will serve as lingerie for the bride also.

I admit that it may not sound or look sexy, but some serious engineering has gone into this garment. The reason I have had to start a wedding dress in this way is because of several factors:

  • the bride, despite being teeny tiny has a very large bust
  • the wedding dress will be backless
  • the wedding dress is bias cut and will cling to the body
so the purpose of the garment is to support the weight of the breasts without compromising the design of the dress, this is further made difficult by the design being halter neck and so not having the advantage of being able to use strap tension to pull the underwires tight to the body.
