New obsession: beetle wings in fashion

I saw this super cool Pre Raphaelite painting by John Singer Sargent of Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth (1889) in the Tate Britain a few weeks ago. It's funny how the Universe correlates bang on target because I've been seeing a lot of fashion with beetle wings in it lately.

A bit about this dress: This dress was originally designed by Alice Comyns-Carr, and made in crochet by  Ada Nettleship. The original concept of the dress was that it should resemble chain mail armour and was rich in metallic yarn and embroidery and decorated with beetle wings to give it a serpentine theme. Since it's creation 124 years ago, the dress has undergone a £50,000 restoration and now resides at Smallhythe Place .

Pinterest Mania

Lately I have been obsessed with creating Pinterest boards.

For me it's a really easy way to sort through the many idea's and aesthetic things that go together. I use it as a catalogue of information and a source of collective inspiration. I have even started to create mood boards with my future clients in mind so soon I will be adding themed boards for different costume and wedding concepts.

I'm having great fun with it, if you would like to look at my Pinterest here is the link: http://pinterest.com/curvecouture/.

Please check out my boards when you have a spare moment, and perhaps inspire a new board by sending me a great idea.
